In 1916 the Norwegian author Knut Hamsun wrote the famous book The Growth of the Soil, about the stoic Isaac Sellanraa. He was an earthbound and humble man who would rather break new ground than getting carried away in the world of social development towards industrialization, urbanization and rootlessness.

In this project the focus was on the contradictions of our contemporary and fast changing world ratio and Isaac’s dream.

There are five invited artists in Tare from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany who collaborate with locals from Steigen of various ages and origin.

Artists in the project: Yvonne Halfens Peter Bremer, Kiki Gebauer Alda Snopek, Sibylla Weisweiler, Eva Bakkeslett & Line Hvoslef
